I was walking too fast, not paying attention to my surroundings, until I crashed with something hard. I was about to fall to the ground but someone steadied me by the waist and set me straight. My wolf was yelling to be set free and electricity was running all over my body.
I looked up into a beautiful set of eyes. The guy who had straightened me was still holding my waist and looking directly into my eyes. He was breathtaking. In my eighteen years, I had seen plenty of handsome guys, but the one in front of me was by far the best.
He had black hair, which was all over the place stylishly. His eyes were deep blue, with green specs. His skin was lightly tanned and I could feel his muscular body pressed against mine.
My wolf called to him. After ignoring her- while I admired the gorgeous guy holding me- I understood what she was telling me.
‘Mate.’

Prologue
I ran away from home. After everything that happened with my family and the pack, I did the only thing I thought to do. I ran away from my life. When I was far away from my home and what used to be my life, I kept running.
Being a quitter was frowned upon in most packs, and mine was no exception. When my life gave a 180 turn and things became too much to handle, I decided to give up and start over elsewhere.
No one saw it coming. Everyone thought I would stick around and take everything they were throwing my way. In my heart, I knew I wouldn’t be the only one to make the decision I took if they were in my shoes.
I was the daughter of the Beta in our pack. Without a say, I was to marry the neighboring packs’ Alpha. Maybe I would make the sacrifice for my pack, had the situation not been so twisted.
The first thing he said to me was, “you look just like her.”
At first, it was a mystery what he meant. Later that day, the whole pack was talking about me being the replacement of Alpha Nicolas’ dead mate.
I would be a clone taking the place of his deceased mate. After I looked at her picture from when she was younger, I agreed with everyone. Isabelle and I had similar features, but most of it was in his imagination. Alpha Nicolas wanted to see Isabelle in me, so that is what his mind showed him.
My union with the Alpha would bring a loyalty agreement between the two packs.
***
Everything for the past two weeks before I left had been hectic around the pack. I was pampered and beautified every day, to please Alpha Nicolas. Not that he cared for any of it. He met me three weeks ago, claimed he wanted me as a wife, and I was to marry him two days from now. Every moment we spent together was full of caresses, compliments, and possibly the best treatment any man could give a girl.
The problem: I was aware that everything he did, every present he gave me, and his nice compliments were not for me. They were all for her, for Isabelle- his mate who had been killed by a Rogue 6 years ago.
It had been early in the morning when I ran away. Now it was almost midnight. I only had with me a backpack with three changes of clothes, my valuables, and some saved money. I knew it would last me a while- at least until I settled down and found a job somewhere.
I was given everything when I was at home. Now, things would be a lot harder.
I arrived at a town three states over from my pack. There were hardly any cars on the road. Being midnight, no one would really be around. I tried to cover the most land I could during the day, only stopping when absolutely necessary.
It was easy to find a hotel in the middle of town and I went inside as soon as I spotted it.
The few lamps illuminated the streets and gave the air a mysterious look. There was light fog coating the ground. Had it not been for the gas station and a diner that seemed to be open 24 hours a day, everything would appear creepy.
I opened the hotel door to be greeted by a middle-aged lady behind the counter. The place was too small to really be considered a hotel, but it was too nice to be a motel. Outside, the air had been chilly and the contrast to how warm it was inside the hotel was noticeable.
The lady greeted me with a kind smile and motioned me over.
“Hi sweetie, how can I help you?” The lady asked, with a motherly voice. I couldn’t help but be reminded of my parents who stayed behind with the pack. Swallowing my pain, I tried offering her a smile.
“I would like a room,” I told her.
“Sure thing, dear. We have most of the rooms free, so you can pick from the first floor or the second,” she told me.
“I would like the second floor, please,” I said to her as she handed me a paper.
“I’m going to need identification and for you to fill in this form.”
I panicked when she asked for my ID. It was obvious I would have to give one, but I wanted to avoid leaving a trace of where I’d been.
“Is there any way that I can leave some parts blank, and not have to give you my ID? This is really important,” I pleaded. I would call more attention to myself by doing this, but at the moment, I felt desperate.
“Honey, are you in some sort of trouble?” The lady asked, as she took my hand and looked at me worriedly.
“I’m trying to hide from my family. My dad, he…” I couldn’t bring myself to finish that sentence. Being married to Alpha Nicolas might not seem so bad to some, but for me, it meant giving up my life.
“Don’t finish that sentence sweetie. I understand. Just fill in the most information that you can and we’ll pretend some paperwork got lost, okay?” She smiled at me warmly, and I couldn’t help but be grateful toward this stranger.
“Thank you so much. You have no idea what this means to me. I’m Leila,” I told her, offering my hand to shake.
“I’m Marie, and if you need anything, please don’t hesitate to ask. This is my hotel, so I spend most of my time here. But in case you can’t find me here, this is my house number.” She handed me a business card, and wrote her number on the back.
I nodded my head and settled in one of the chairs to fill out the form.
I went to my room after assuring Marie that I would be fine on my own.
The room was medium-sized, but had everything I needed. The queen size bed was covered in light teal sheets. There was a comfortable beige couch in front of the bed. A TV was on top of a shelf which had a combination of several magazines.
I decided to take a shower fist since I’d been running and sweating all day.
I went to bed right after my shower. Once laying down I could only think of how my life would be from this moment on. I was now a rogue, a lone she-wolf, and the idea was causing different emotions within me.
***
I woke up to the sun seeping in through the window. I didn’t want to get up. Despite sleeping all night, my body was still exhausted. I blamed it on the worry of being away from home.
I finally got up and walked to the sliding door that led to a balcony. The view, which showed the back of the hotel, was the beautiful forest that covered most of the area.
I thought about what my parents would be doing right now. I had brought shame to my family and my pack. I had no idea whether Alpha Nicolas already knew that I ran away. I was worried about the repercussions my family would have to face, but I was convincing myself that this was the right decision.
After asking Marie for directions to the best place to have breakfast in, she led me to the diner I had seen while getting here. She offered to make me breakfast, which was complimentary of the hotel, but I wanted some fresh air.
I was sitting alone in one of the booths toward the back. It was around 10 in the morning, but things seemed to be running slow in town.
“Mind if I take a seat with you?” A brown haired guy asked me, as he took a seat in my booth.
“Go ahead,” I said, more to myself than him. He was already sitting down. It didn’t take much to figure out he was a werewolf, and a strong one at that.
He ordered a coffee and some pancakes when the girl came to take his order. I noticed she gave him a lasting look. I understood why. He was attractive- with hazel eyes, a nice tan, and strong build.
The girl left soon after and didn’t take long to return with his meal. All the while, the guy looked at me, but didn’t break the silence. I said nothing, only acknowledging his stare but kept reading my book.
“You do know that you are trespassing, right?” He asked me, after taking a bite from his pancakes.
“I wasn’t aware that there was a pack here, but either way, I’m passing through,” I responded while looking directly at him.
“I’m Jace, Beta of the Midnight Moon Pack,” the guy said, out-stretching his hand for me to shake.
“Leila,” I answered, shaking his hand.
“You know, you give off an air of power. Yet, you are running around another pack's territory, alone,” Jace said to me, with a questioning look.
“Like I said, I’m just passing through. I’m not going to disturb the pack and I’ll make sure to keep out of the forest,” I dryly replied.
“It doesn’t make you less of a threat,” he cocked an eyebrow, and gave me a look I saw my own dad give rogues who he thought would be trouble.
“So, what would assure that your pack is safe with my presence?” I asked him.
“Most of the rogues who cross our territory, don’t leave alive,” he said, with a threatening tone.
He was trying to intimidate me but it wasn’t working. His aura gave off him having some power in his pack, but he wasn’t the Alpha. His tone did not affect me whatsoever. The fact that I was no longer part of a pack anymore didn’t help the intimidation he was aiming for.
Chapter 2
Leila
“Are you implying I should watch myself from your pack?”
“It depends on your intentions. When do you plan to leave?” Jace continued eating calmly, like if we weren’t talking about possibly eliminating me.
“I’ll be gone by the end of the week, for sure,” I told him, with a steady voice. He was a few years older than me. I was sure of that.
“That’s plenty of time for an attack, which only leaves one option.”
“What option?” My appetite was long gone, and I only continued to drink my soda. I ran away from a controlling pack, to now be on the mercy of another one. Rogues had been treated roughly in my pack and it wasn’t any different in others.
“You need to plead the Alpha for permission to stay the week,” Jace responded, with a smirk on his face.
“I’ll be gone tomorrow,” I answered quicker than I’d wished. I didn’t want to confront any Alpha’s because I feared that they might know either Nicolas, or the Alpha from my pack.
“Why are you so nervous all of a sudden? Committed a crime you’re trying to hide?” Jace looked amused and curious. I wasn’t sure what would be best. Confide in him and ask that he keeps my presence a secret, or run before he had a chance to take me to his Alpha.
“I’m not nervous, I just don’t respond well to authority,” I answered, breathing a sigh of relief. Jace raised an eyebrow and smirked once again.
“What is it with rogues and having a problem with rules? I will never understand that,” Jace said, shaking his head.
“It’s the reason you all don’t last out in the open. There is no pack to back you up.”
I didn’t say anything to his thoughts about rogues. I had never experienced a rogue life before, but what I had seen- it was difficult.
“Sometimes it’s easier to just count on yourself,” I replied, after silence had fallen between us.
“You look young, are you even 18 yet?” Jace questioned.
“I’m 18. You?” I asked him, now curious about the wolf in front of me.
“I am freshly turned 21,” Jace said, looking proud of himself.
“So, what’s the verdict? Can I stay for today without your Alpha finding out? If I make sure to leave early tomorrow morning?” I asked him, trying to sound flirty. He was being overly friendly with me, so it was likely he was mate-less.
“If a wolf from a pack can supervise you all day, then I can let your presence slip,” he said, leaning closer to me and rubbing his thumb on my hand.
“And who would the wolf be?” He grinned and I considered leaving right after I was out of the diner.
It’s not that Jace wasn’t good looking, because he was. I just feared his intentions, or what he thought might happen between us.
After he paid, Jace walked me to his grey sleek car, which was parked in front of the diner.
“Where are we off too?” I asked him as he drove off. I didn’t know this town very well, but I needed to know where I was at. If I made myself vulnerable, anyone might take advantage of that.
“There’s about forty miles of free land for running between our pack and the one next to us. No wolf hangs out in the outskirts of the land so it gives us more space,” Jace replied.
I was amazed at the beauty of the forest where Jace took me. I shifted into my white wolf behind a tree while Jace shifted some trees away.
I was a pure white wolf, my four paws tainted with black. It was a trait that ran in our family and my father was proud of it.
Jace came out with the clothes he had been wearing, in his mouth. His wolf was a light brown, similar to the color of his hair, and he was significantly bigger than me.
I followed Jace as he led us to a clearing that he claimed would amaze me. I shouldn’t trust him so easily. After all, he had my life in his hands. Without a thought, and against my better instincts, I went with him to the so-called beautiful clearing.
In no time, we made it to our desired location. Jace went behind a big tree and changed. I went in the opposite direction and put my clothes back on.
“It’s just a few more trees ahead,” Jace said when we were both together.
I was frozen in place once I saw it. A huge lake stood next to where the trees cleared out. It was breathtaking. Jace was satisfied with my expression and led me closer to the lake.
We sat down side by side near the shallow waters of the lake.
I took off my sandals and folded the bottom part of my jeans, so that I could dip my feet in the water.
“You are a very beautiful girl, you know that?” Jace told me, as he caressed my cheek and moved a few strands of hair that had fallen over my face.
“Thank you,” I replied, feeling a light blush falling over my face.
“I hardly see any rogues who are girls, much less have them traveling alone.”
I wasn’t looking at him. So far, he hadn’t tried anything, but my best shot of taking him on, was running. Yes, it had been a very bad idea to come along with him.
“Yeah?” I simply asked.
“Dylan, The Alpha, is not a very forgiving or generous person. But he is my best friend. I’m sure if you ask permission to be part of the pack, and with my influence, you could stay here permanently.”
I turned to look at Jace. He was being serious.
“What would the price for that be?” I asked, knowing I wouldn’t like his answer.
“I really like you. We could give us a try and see if it works out,” Jace replied, shrugging.
“Thank you, but I’m not interested.” I smiled and tried to look friendly. I didn’t want to rile him up, or get him angry.
“You might become interested later. Maybe you could stay a few more days, and give the town a chance?” I searched his face trying to find answers to my questions. He was being nice about it and giving me an option.
“I’m not looking for a relationship at the moment. Besides, didn’t you say your Alpha had to approve if I stayed any longer?”
“All we have to do is ask for permission to let you stay. For sure he’ll say yes,” Jace told me.
“That’s a rule breaker for me. I don’t want to meet your Alpha.”
I put my hands on the ground behind me and rested my weight on them- trying to absorb the sun that fell over the lake.
“We could hold it off until you’re ready then. As long as you keep out of the forest and out of sight from the pack, we should be safe.”
I looked at Jace, trying to think of the possibility of staying.
Yes, I was three states away from home. It still felt like at any moment, they could come after me and take me back. I have considered the pack wanting my death for treason. I ran away like a coward, I’m sure that made no one happy.
“I’ll stay, for right now,” I said while Jace grinned and nodded.
When Jace noticed that I got hungry, he left to get us food. Not thirty minutes later, he was back with a brown bag and a few drinks.
I wanted to go for a swim, but didn’t have any clothes. After a lot of convincing from Jace, I got in with my bra and panties, but wearing his shirt over them. He didn’t mind scampering around in his boxers.
I didn’t want to trust Jace at first, but after spending the day with him, it was hard to resist his charm.
I learned that Jace has been the Beta for the Midnight Moon Pack for four years now. His best friend is the Alpha, he enjoys pack life, and he lives on his own. His family is part of the pack, but he wanted to enjoy the “bachelor life”.
Jace tried to ask me questions. Every time he did, I placed the attention on something else. Either he let it go, or my distractions had been really good.
***
We stayed at the lake until late that afternoon. The sun was setting and chilly air was settling around us. My hair was still damp so the air felt really cold.
“We should probably run back already,” Jace told me, looking worried as I felt shivers run through my body.
I nodded my head and went to remove my clothes behind a tree.
It wasn’t long before we made it back to the car. I told Jace where I was staying and he drove me to the hotel, claiming he was good friends with Marie.
“Long time, no see, Marie,” Jace excitedly told the lady behind the desk.
“I know, Jace. You need to make time to visit us more often,” Marie replied, walking from behind the counter and embracing Jace in a hug.
“Sure will, now take care of my friend here. She’s new in town and hopefully, she’ll stay with us for a while.” Jace wrapped his arm around my shoulder and smiled down at me.
Marie looked surprised, but brightly offered us a grin.
“I see you got to meet Leila,” Marie said to Jace.
“Sure, did,” Jace replied, without taking his gaze off me.
“I’ll see you tomorrow Marie. Thank you for everything,” I told the lady, before walking away.
“Sure thing hun! Just call me if you need anything.” I was off to my room, with Jace still by my side.
“Will you be okay on your own?” Jace asked me after we reached my room. I was hesitant to let him in, fearing he would assume it was an invitation for a sleepover.
“I was alone last night. This one shouldn’t be any different.”
“Do you have a pen?” I wasn’t carrying my purse, so I was forced to go inside my room to get one.
I handed him the pen and he wrote down his number in a pad that was on my bedside table. He asked for my number, but I wasn’t carrying a phone. I had left my cell phone at home, only writing down in a book important numbers and addresses I might need later.
“I’ll come by tomorrow, okay?” Jace told me as he stood outside my opened door. I nodded my head.
His hand softly caressed my cheek and down my neck. Being about 6’1 in height, compared to my 5’4, he had to lean down to reach me. As he did, I feared he would kiss me but didn’t dare move away.
He softly brushed his lips on mine, pressing longer than usual.
“Have a good night,” he waved and walked away from me.
I breathed a sigh of relief as I closed the door and rested my back on it.
I didn’t know what to do. It would be better to be part of a pack. Jace was nice enough and of a high enough rank to protect me, would anyone from my pack come after me. But no matter how much Jace was attracted to me right now, if he ever found his mate, he would leave me. I would never put myself in a position as defenseless as that.
That night, I slept thinking about possible scenarios for the next few days.
Chapter 3
Leila
I woke up to loud knocking on my door. I tried to fix my hair and look decent enough before opening the door. I found a grinning Jace standing there, looking wide awake.
He looked me up and down slowly, his grin morphing into something else. I looked down to what I was wearing and tried to walk away into the restroom. I had on some short shorts with a singlet. Jace had looked at me that same way he did yesterday while we were getting in the lake.
I came out after changing into a pair of clean jeans, leaving the singlet on.
“How are you doing?” Jace was lying down on his back in my bed, with his hands under his head.
“I need to buy some clothes,” I told him as I looked inside my backpack for my toiletries.
“I’ll take you to the mall today. The closest one is about half an hour, so we should leave soon.” I looked at him, weirdly, but nodded my head.
The mall was packed with people. I didn’t expect any less. It was the mall after all. I went through several stores and settled with five pairs of jeans and eight blouses. I bought two pairs of new sandals and a suitcase to carry everything in once I moved again. It would be easier to carry more now that I wasn’t running away.
I was tempted to buy more, but Jace insisted on paying for everything. I felt embarrassed because he didn’t have to do that, but he wouldn’t allow me to pay.
After we were done shopping, it was almost two in the afternoon. We had been in the mall for a couple of hours.
“Where to now?” Jace asked me, while he carried the bags and suitcase.
“I’m done, so we can leave,” I responded, shrugging.
“Let’s go to the food court,” Jace suggested. I agreed and he led us to an empty table in the food court.
“I’ll go drop these off in the car. Then we can order,” Jace told me, pointing at the things he was carrying.
“Sure,” I replied.
“I hope that you buying more clothes, means you might stay in town longer,” Jace said, looking hopeful.
“I’m not sure, but I’m glad you didn’t turn out to be a bad guy,” I replied, offering a smile.
Jace leaned down and pressed his lips on mine. I didn’t move him away because it felt nice to kiss him. Alpha Nicolas’s kisses were always so intense, but Jace gave off happiness and stability.
He walked away right after kissing me. I thought about what had just happened. My heart and mind were telling me it was wrong. For some reason, my wolf was going crazy inside of me.
I thought that she possibly liked kissing Jace, but with her, it was always more complicated. I got up from the chair quickly, and made my way out of the food court section.
‘Mate.’
I thought it was impossible, but there was no denying it. I could feel the bond without my wolf telling me.
“Mine,” I heard the guy holding me say, with a husky voice.
I had to leave, but my wolf wanted to take over and stay with him. Her thoughts were driving me crazy. She wanted him, right now, without caring that we were in the middle of the mall. I fought against her, and pushed away from his hold.
He frowned at me when I removed his hands from my waist.
“I need to leave,” I said more to myself, and tried to get past him. He grabbed my hand and kept me in place.
“You’re mine. My mate,” he said, in a demanding tone. My wolf was howling with joy, while I frowned at the stranger in front of me, who apparently was my mate.
“Right,” I said to him, outstretching the ‘I’ in a sarcastic way.
“Do not speak to me like that,” he said to me with an imposing tone.
In that moment I came to a dreaded realization.
‘He’s an Alpha.’ My wolf told me, enjoying the power surging from his wolf to hers.
It was in moments like these that I found my wolf extremely annoying.
I saw Jace approaching us with a smile on his face when he saw me. As soon as he took notice of the guy in front of me, his facial expression changed. He turned serious and clenched his jaw.
People passed by and gave us a look as we stood in the middle of the hallway, but they didn’t say anything. Jace approached us slowly and stood next to me.
“I think this guy wants to kidnap me,” I told Jace, while half hiding behind his back.
The Alpha growled when he noticed my movements and glared at Jace.
“I was going to tell you yesterday, but now is a good time as well. Leila wants to join the pack,” Jace told the Alpha.
“Actually, I’m leaving later this afternoon,” I said, while staying behind Jace.
“The hell you are!” The Alpha yelled, before Jace could open his mouth.
“What? Why?” Jace asked me, holding my hands in his. The Alpha moved to stand between us and ripped my hands from Jace’s hold.
“Mine!” He snapped at Jace.
Jace looked between the Alpha and me with a shocked expression.
“Dylan, she’s- your mate?” Jace slowly asked him, keeping his gaze on me.
“Yes, and I will not allow you or any other male to touch her,” he replied to Jace, in a commanding tone.
“Understood, Alpha,” Jace said, nodding his head and looking at me with a defeated expression.
The Alpha, Dylan, grabbed my hand in his and started walking away.
I yanked my hand from his hold, catching him off guard, and stayed in place.
“I came here with Jace, and I am only leaving with him,” I told Dylan, with my arms crossed and a defiant look on my face.
Jace was shaking his head with a disapproving expression. Dylan cocked an eyebrow, looking amused.
“Feisty. I like it. But you’re still coming with me.” Dylan tried to get a hold of my hand but I stepped back.
“No, I’m not. And whatever you’re selling, I’m not interested.” With that, I made my way around him and walked away.
I made it out of the mall and into the parking lot without getting stopped. I felt their presence behind me, but didn’t dare look back.
The first step I took in the road’s direction and a hand around my waist brought me to a halt.
“As entertaining as that was back there, I won’t allow it anymore,” Dylan said to me. His hold wasn’t rough, but it easily kept me in place.
“I wasn’t aiming to entertain. I was merely passing through here, and now that I see there’s nothing of interest, I will be out of this place,” I sourly replied.
“No, you won’t. You are staying here, with me- where you belong.” He started dragging me to his car but I was putting up a fight.
“Stop that, or I’ll carry you. Either way you will end up in my car.” I stopped my fighting and Dylan looked satisfied. The only thing I was carrying was my wallet, which was safely tucked in my back pocket and secured with a chain. I walked by his side keeping up with his pace.
Dylan started talking to Jace. I used that as a distraction and dashed it. I sprinted as fast as I could through the parking lot and onto the main road. It took them a moment to react with what I had just done. I felt them start running after me shortly after.
I ran like I never had in my life. I considered shifting into my wolf, but didn’t for two reasons. One, I would be too exposed. There were cars with people everywhere. Two, my wolf wanted to stay and follow Dylan’s orders. It would be hard to make her run away from him.
Even with Dylan being an Alpha and Jace being a Beta, they were taking time to catch up to me. I had Beta blood in me, but what helped the most was that I trained all my life, and my size made it easier to run away.
I felt Dylan gaining on me right before I neared the woods. I kept running, hoping to make it in time and shift. It would be hard to overpower my wolf wanting to stay, but it wasn’t impossible.
Before I cleared the short space that led into the woods, someone swiftly tackled me. I put my hands in front of me, trying to block the sure crash my face would do with the ground. Seconds before landing, he switched our positions. Dylan landed on the ground, taking the full force of our crash while I landed on top of him. We were facing each other, his hands on my waist, while mine rested on his chest.
Dylan was looking intently at me, not bothered by the fall.
“Are you okay?” He worriedly asked me. I nodded my head, not finding words to speak.
“Good, we’re going home to my pack. One more problem from you and I’m tying you up,” Dylan said seriously while standing us up and getting my elbow, leading us to the mall’s parking lot.
Jace followed us in his car. He hadn’t said a word to me or even looked in my direction. Dylan forced me into the passenger seat of his car and made me drive back with him.
We were headed to his house.
“When did you get here?” Dylan asked me during the way. It would be a long drive, but I didn’t mind the silence. I was mad, and honestly, a little scared of Dylan.
I stayed silent, and didn’t look his way. I found the scenery very interesting and focused on that. I hated how happy my wolf was with Dylan’s presence. It was embarrassing how low she wanted to stoop for him and to get his attention.
“Answer me!” He demanded, using his Alpha tone. Everyone was supposed to bow down to that tone and his Alpha title. I smirked, still not looking in his direction-finding interesting how much I was able to defy him.
“Your attitude might slip through right now, when it’s just you and me. I dare you to act that way in front of our pack, and find out what happens.” My wolf loved it when he said ‘our pack’. But I laughed at his threat. Dylan growled not appreciating my take on things.
He roughly brought the car to a stop and parked on the side of the road. Jace barely stopped before hitting us. His car swerved but he managed to control it in time.
Dylan got out and walked to my side of the car. He opened the car door and got me out with force.
“I dare you to behave how you just did,” he challenged me, while holding me by the waist.
I stayed silent but didn’t drop my gaze. I held my glare at him, while he looked at me, tauntingly.
“Dylan, calm down man. What are you doing?” Jace asked with a worried look. I turned toward Jace’s direction and he finally looked at me.
“It’s fine Jace, we had a misunderstanding. It’s all cleared up now,” I said, with an overly nice voice.
Jace kept his eyes on us while Dylan stared at me. I turned back to face Dylan and smirked. He growled, but helped me back in the car.
The rest of the way to his house was spent in silence. He didn’t try to make conversation, avoiding another confrontation between us.
“I live alone. My parents’ house is a few ways down there.” Dylan pointed toward a direction in the woods. We were in front of a stunning two-story house. What amazed me most wasn’t the size, but the structure. It was creatively designed and gave off a modern look, despite it being in the middle of the forest.
“I want to leave,” I told him, leaning my back on his sleek black car. It looked expensive and I’m sure his house costs more than your usual salary as well. With him being Alpha, it didn’t surprise me much. Alphas and Betas were known to be extremely wealthy.
“You wouldn’t get away from my lands before either I or someone from my pack stopped you.”
Dylan walked up to me and placed his hands on his car, enclosing my waist.
“You are aware that this is kidnapping? I don’t want to be here with you.” I glared at him.
“It’s not kidnapping if no one finds out,” he replied. I pushed him away, but he slammed me on his car to keep me in place. “Stop disrespecting me! As of right now, you officially belong to this pack,” he told me, with an evil smirk on his face. I felt his wolf taking over and my wolf was responding to him.
“I don’t belong to anyone’s pack,” I said, not backing down. Light pain was coursing through my back from when he shoved me, but it was already fading away
“See, that’s where you’re wrong,” Dylan said as he caressed my cheek softly.
He walked away from me and started heading for the door to his house.
I turned to look out into the forest.
